OCIW Review Professional Goals and Issues General Issues - have a more formal/regular review - continued professional development/advancement - compensation more inline with the peers/private sector * compensation comparisons place me 15% - 25% below current averages - sources include: R&D salaries, Salary.com, AUGI, ... - obtain a green card Short Term - commission IMACS - continue work on FourStar - work to organize (and unify, if that's possible) instrument assembly area - work in a managerial capacity on smaller projects Long Term - manage small projects - work in an engineering management capacity - function with increased responsibility with time - manage the machine shop Professional Development - I am 'isolated' at OCIW from my peer group (there is no cohessive engineering group at OCIW). - It is important, on a professional level, to stay current with the engineering world. - Membership in professional societies, ASME, PEng., etc. - Continued professional training - professionally accredited coursework. 'Immediate Needs' CAD/CAE Training - Drawings for manufacture relaese can be produced, but they are inconsistent across the project and do not meet current standards - Producing drawings to standards is important because it ensures all necessary part and production information is properly documented - Formal drafting training would ensure that accurate, consistient, meaningful drawings are produced. - 'Redrafting' workload would be reduced or eliminated. - Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Course - Continuing Autodesk Inventor Training - Continued ANSYS Training Other Interests Drafting Course - Get upto speed with current drafting standards, specifically GD&T. OptoMechanics Course - In an effort to be more effective in design meetings and on instrument design work. Management Course - If and when the need would/should arise.
